Peace Light 2025

War Cemetery Brunssum

Peace Light shines once again at the English cemetery in Brunssum

On Friday evening, 19 December, the Peace Light was passed on in a special and solemn manner in Brunssum. During an impressive ceremony at the Brunssum War Cemetery, the war graves were illuminated by countless small flames. Each light symbolized remembrance, respect, and connectedness.

The Peace Light, which originates from an ancient Christmas tradition, now begins its journey through Brunssum and the surrounding area. The light is taken into homes and meeting places, carrying with it a message of love, hope, and reflection.

The British war cemetery, bathed in the warm glow of the many lights, formed a moving and almost serene scene. The silent rows of graves, illuminated by the flames, left a deep impression on those present and emphasized the enduring importance of remembrance and of pausing together to reflect on peace and freedom.

The ceremony showed how a small light can carry great meaning and bring people together, especially at this time of year.
