Friday, 18 December 2026 | Departure at 6:45 PM from Lindeplein, Brunssum
Together for Peace and Remembrance
On Friday, 18 December 2026, Brunssum will once again come together to honour peace, freedom and remembrance. Scouting Brunssum and the War Cemetery Brunssum Foundation, with the support of Brunssum Veterans, are organising a special event centred around the Peace Light and the annual initiative Lights on War Graves.
At 6:45 PM, participants will gather at Lindeplein in Brunssum and set off together in a procession to War Cemetery Brunssum. Upon arrival, lights will be placed at the graves of the fallen servicemen who gave their lives for our freedom.
The Peace Light: A Symbol of Hope
The Peace Light is an international symbol of peace, hope and solidarity. It reminds us how precious peace and freedom are, and how important it is to pass these values on to future generations.
Lights on War Graves: Remembering Together
During Lights on War Graves, small lights will be placed on the graves throughout the war cemetery. Together, these lights form a moving tribute to the servicemen who made the ultimate sacrifice during the Second World War.
Through this annual event, we keep the memory of the fallen alive and reflect on the importance of peace and freedom.
